Gauhar/Delhi: The history of Paratha Wali Gali in Old Delhi is quite special. It is said that this street got its name because of the parantha shops. Let us tell you that there are three shops in this street which are more than 100 years old. The first shop is famous by the name of Baburam Devi Dayal, the second shop by the name of Pandit Kanhaiya Lal Durga Prasad Dixit and the third shop by the name of Pandit Gaya Prasad Shivcharan. The most special thing about these shops is that many big politicians and celebrities often come here to eat parathas.

When the team of Local 18 asked the owners of these shops which politicians and celebrities had come to eat parathas. Then Prashant Tiwari, owner of a shop named Pandit Kanhaiya Lal, said that politician Babu Jagjivan Ram and celebrity Ranbir Kapoor had come to this shop with Imtiaz Ali to eat parathas. He said that only Babu Jagjivan Ram had come here to eat parathas.

Who should eat the parathas that have arrived?
Bhola, the owner of a famous shop named Pandit Gaya Prasas Shivcharan, told the Local18 team that he had heard from his father and from the pictures posted here, it came to light that Mrs. Indira Gandhi and Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru had come to this shop to eat parathas. He said that this shop is about 150 years old and the same politicians had come to this shop to eat parathas.

Who came first to eat?
The team of Local 18 also tried to know this but it was very difficult to find out who came first to eat the paratha. But according to the pictures posted in this street and information received from shopkeepers, many big celebrities and politicians have come here to eat parathas. The shopkeepers said that the price of paratha here ranges from Rs 90 to Rs 300, in which many types of parathas are available to eat.

How and when to eat parathas
If you want to go to Paratha Gali to eat parathas, you can go anytime from 10 am to 10 pm. To reach here, one has to get down at Chandni Chowk metro station from the Yellow Metro Line. Where as soon as you come out of Gate No. 1, you will find Parantha Street towards Chandni Chowk.
