EVM Cost: How much does an EVM cost, know the total cost of making it


In the Lok Sabha and State Assembly elections in the country, voting and counting of votes takes place using EVMs. Not only this, EVM has also reduced the cost of conducting elections to a great extent. In our country, elections are held somewhere or the other in different states, due to this the importance of EVM has increased a lot. Today we will give you information related to EVs, like the price of EVM and how much it costs to make it. 

Electronic Voting Machine 

Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) is an electronic device for recording votes. Let us tell you that an electronic voting machine has two units, one is the control unit and the other is the voting unit. Which is connected to a five meter cable. Apart from this, the control unit is kept with the presiding officer or polling officer, while the voting unit is kept inside the voting compartment. Let us tell you that EVM was used for the first time in India in the year 1982 in (70) Parur assembly constituency of Kerala.

Apart from this, ballot paper is not given in EVM, but the in-charge of the control unit votes. The officer issues a ballot by pressing the ballot button on the control unit. After which the voter casts his vote by pressing the blue button on the balloting unit in front of the candidate of his choice and the election symbol.

Price of EVM

Information. According to , the price of one M2 EVM was Rs 8,670. Whereas, the price of an M3 EVM is around Rs 17,000. Apart from this, more money is spent in making large number of EVMs, but this saves a lot of money in terms of printing, transportation, storage etc. of lakhs of ballot papers for every election. Due to this, very less employees are required even at the time of counting, which also saves their expenses.

How does the EVM get electricity?

One question is this. Let us tell you how the EVMs get electricity. If there is power failure, how will EVMs work? Let us tell you that EVM does not require electricity. The EVM runs on a simple battery assembled by Bharat Electronics Limited/Electronics Corporation of India Limited. After the voting is over at the polling station, EVMs are deposited in the strong room. Strong rooms are generally built in the district headquarters along with the deployment of security forces.
