In an important order, the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court has asked the state government as to what fire fighting measures have been taken in the government hospitals as per the earlier order. At the same time, an answer has been sought from the officers as to how many incidents of fire have taken place in government hospitals so far? Due to which patients and attendants died or got injured.
This order was given by the division bench of Justice Rajan Roy and Justice Om Prakash Shukla in the PIL filed in 2016 by We the People organization. In this, citing the fire incident that took place in a government hospital at that time, a request was made to make fire fighting arrangements in government hospitals across the state. The petitioner said that most of the government hospitals do not have any fire prevention system.
On the other hand, the government lawyer said that the government’s reply in this matter has already been given to the petitioner. On this the court found that the government’s reply was not on record. The court ordered its office to search for the counter affidavit of the said government and bring it on record. The next hearing of the case will be after four weeks.
Asked on another PIL, how many government hospitals have ventilators?
Lucknow: Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court has asked the state government on a PIL that how many ventilators are there in the government medical colleges and hospitals of the state? The court has ordered to present the details of every district. A division bench of Justice Rajan Roy and Justice Om Prakash Shukla gave this order on a petition filed in 2016 by Prince Lenin, General Secretary of We the People organization. In this, the issue of availability of ventilators in KGMU including the local PGI was raised.
The court said that both these hospitals are in Lucknow. We want to know how many ventilators are there in the government medical colleges and district hospitals of the state. How many of these are operational and how many are closed. The court ordered the government lawyer to file their district-wise details in the counter affidavit within four weeks. After this, the next hearing of the case has been fixed. At the time of hearing, KGMU’s lawyer told the court that there are 394 ventilators there. One of them is damaged and is being repaired.
