When passengers are traveling in the reservation compartment, it is the responsibility of the TTE and the coach attendant to ensure that no suspicious person or social element should enter it.
In such a situation, if any suspicious person enters the coach and steals the goods. So Railways does not have to take the entire responsibility for this. And the person concerned also has to pay compensation. Let us tell you that there is no such law of Railways. But the Consumer Court has given its decision in favor of the passenger regarding such occasions in two of its crops.
Railways had to pay compensation

Last year something similar had happened with a youth from Chandigarh. Regarding which the Consumer Forum had ordered the Railways to return the amount stolen from that person.
If the Railways will have to return it, it will also have to pay a compensation of ₹ 50,000. The Consumer Forum had said in its decision that “It is the responsibility of TTE and attendant to prevent entry of unauthorized people in the reserve coach. If there is any loss to the passenger due to their negligence, the Railways is responsible for it.”
